Director – Technology OperationsManage four teams of infrastructure engineering responsible for telecommunications, networking, systems, storage, cloud platform, and datacenter operations. Managing Architect – Infrastructure and EngineeringStarted as a contractor to assess financial impact of insourcing all systems related to Sears.com. Eventually lead to a full time role as a technology leader and architect managing infrastructure vision and team growth. Accomplishments- Created presentation for senior leadership team that proposed all spending to insource infrastructure and received approval based on three year return on investment- All purchases over $1M required presentation to leadership team to justify business case- Lead team that brought sears.com from outsourced model to an insourced model which greatly lowered operation costs and capital expenditures given a 3 year cost model- Managed a capital budget of $5-10M per year for hardware and software purchases- Worked with Savvis, Exodus, Hitachi, IBM, Cisco, HP and other vendors to solution appropriate technology platform and spend- Designed and built two redundant datacenters along with the backend server, storage and networking platforms to bring the business rapid deployment for key initiatives - Designed and built platform to house our “big data” and “nosql” initiatives based upon HDFS and mongodb respectively to allow business a robust analytics environment that was scalable and reliable - Designed and implemented converged networking to minimize infrastructure costs based upon datacenter density and cabling

Technology ArchitectWas brought on to implement and design an environment that was to change the way IRI did business. Project consisted of a $10M+ capital budget for infrastructure. Made recommendation on which collocation service to use based on financial analysis. Designed and architected a database and systems environment that would be financially sound as well as meet the needs of the applications which were to run in this new environment. Implemented agreed upon architecture under budget and on time.

Manager, Infrastructure Design ServicesLead systems, storage and datacenter operations. Managed a team of 11 people, while focusing on the management and deployment of services in two datacenters totaling around 10,000 sq ft. Appropriated $35M in assets totaling over 5000 machines across four pre-production and one production environment. Accomplishments- Architected and implemented virtualization using VMWare to reduce datacenter footprint and hardware costs for pre-production environments- Led hardware support of web/app and web tier commodity machines, later building this support in-house to reduce costs- Architected and deployed replicated VTLs to reduce operating costs associated with offsite tape storage.- Built financial cost models for business projects for systems or storage infrastructure- Cut operational costs over $10M via datacenter consolidation and vendor contract re-negotiationManager, Storage Engineering 2004-2006Primary role involved management, design, implementation and support of all storage as well as all hosts which attached to storage. Total storage managed was approximately 150TB online. Responsible for two major projects, Cendant acquisition and spin off of Orbitz, as well as the acquisition by Blackstone.
