I am excited to put into action my recent graduate degree in tourism, earned at Clemson’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. I am keen to combine new knowledge and skills in recreation and tourism theory, lecturing, and academic research and writing, with my progressive career experience in media and communications, editing and marketing, into a professional role that embodies the values of sustainable travel that respect local people and their environment.Before undertaking my career shift at Clemson, I worked and lived in East Asia for two decades across corporate, small-business and media sectors, as well as having run my own editing business. I acquired and possess an acute sensitivity to cross-cultural business norms and practices and am adept at working effectively in international and cross-cultural settings.Most recently in Asia, I worked as a Senior Relationship Manager at Hana Bank, one of Korea’s top 3 commercial banks. There, I served as a key liaison providing financial services to foreign corporates from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. I also spearheaded the bank’s relationship-building efforts with key stakeholders (foreign business chambers, embassies, and business and community groups).Prior to pursuing a mid-career master’s in tourism at Clemson University, I worked extensively in the media sector, including travel-related ones, by contributing to Asian in-flight magazines, editing Korean Air’s 'Morning Calm' magazine and others, and editing and writing cultural and historical contents for a variety of Korean cultural and academic organizations. My earlier writing career involved reporting positions with daily and weekly newspapers in several U.S. states, including at the New York Daily News.
