I've held a variety of positions at the newspaper since arriving in March 1992 to cover the city of West Palm Beach. One highlight: covering the 2000 presidential election that came down to Florida and had so many crazy twists and turns in Palm Beach County, FL. When it was over, I spent a year as first the newspaper, and then a consortium of newspapers, counted and recounted the ballots.

Transitioned from covering the 2000 presidential election and its many Florida recounts to full-time duty on The Palm Beach Post's investigative team.

Covered growth management and the politics behind growth in Palm Beach County, Fla. Completed four-part series on the politics behind the county's leap westward published in November 1997, winner of a Green Eyeshade award for non-deadline news reporting. After November 2000, covered contested presidential election before transitioning to the newspaper's investigative team.

Covered the city of West Palm Beach under new Mayor Nancy Graham as she pieced together the land that became CityPlace and turned the dormant Clematis Street downtown around.

After five years on the copy desk, I moved to beat reporting and occasional city desk editing for the newspaper, with a specialty in the city's troubled housing authority.

Copy editor working to rewrite copy, correct it for errors, cut it on deadline, write headlines, layout pages and select and edit wire copy.

First job out of college immediately following graduation. I started on the city of Greeley and moved to higher education (University of Northern Colorado), which included state house coverage of education reform in Colorado Legislature.

Eight weeks as a reporter working under the close tutelage of immensely helpful and talented metro reporter Craig Matsuda and two weeks on the copy desk, a for-credit portion of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.

Covered meetings and wrote up press releases in a roughly 12-hour a week job that started at the chain's Lake Forester while I still attended high school. Transfered to the Evanston Review, with it's helpful and sharing staff of veteran reporters and editors, in my freshman year at Northwestern and stayed until my Teaching Newspaper internship at Miami Herald in 1982. When I came back I worked briefly for the college paper, The Daily Northwestern.
