I am an accomplished Health, Safety & Emergency Services Leader with over 15 years of experience in the resources sector, primarily within the mining industry. Currently serving as the Business Partner – Health, Safety & Emergency Services at Rio Tinto Iron Ore, I have demonstrated my ability to drive HSE excellence and foster a resilient HSE culture. With a strong background in leadership, personnel development, and stakeholder engagement, I have successfully managed large teams and implemented significant projects.My qualifications include a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from Curtin University and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Health Science from the University of Western Australia. I hold a range of certifications, including Lead Auditor for OHS Management Systems, incident root cause analysis, crisis and emergency management, mental wellbeing awareness, and various safety-related qualifications.In my current role, I oversee a combined site headcount of 3,400 and have achieved several milestones, including leading a project involving a remote-controlled firefighting robot, implementing a safe dozing systems of work, and contributing to a mentally healthy workplace initiative. I have also acted as a lead auditor, participated in safety audits, and played a pivotal role in organisational structural changes while improving employee engagement and satisfaction.Before my current position, I held roles as Superintendent in various Rio Tinto Iron Ore operations, managing combined site headcounts ranging from 1,100 to 2,300. In these roles, I played a key role in implementing and improving Health & Safety systems and processes, including projects related to fatigue risk reduction, incident investigation, and health and safety fundamentals.
