My main areas of professional experience lie in corporate policy work in Local Authorities and the NHS, as well as Third Sector commissionining, and management. As Deputy CEO of POhWER Advocacy I was responsible for the tender to win the organisation's first regional ICAS contract, and developed the organisation's internal systems for meeting a growth pattern that has continued to this day.In 2005 I went to Cumbria and put together a programme that transformed the County Council from being the lowest performing County on Equality to being best of class. In 2008 the Council was accredited as Achieving under the Equality Framework, and in 2010/11 I managed a project to enable the District Councils in Cumbria to reach the same level. Since 2011 I have been working on the Council's policies on anti-poverty and financial inclusion, which includes contract management for the Council's Money Advice Contract with the CAB, the community advocacy service run by Cumbria People First, and the Council's investment strategy for credit unions. My goals are:1. To contribute towards building a more equal society.2. To demonstrate the importance of policy led approaches to change. 3. To bring the best out of the Public Sector and the Third Sector in any fields I am working in. 4. To contribute to the development of a more critically aware public.Specialties: Applicaiton of Equality legislation in rural areas.Corporate implementation of Equality.Policies to tackle poverty and financial exclusion.Advocacy and user invovlement.Commissioning Third Sector providers and contract management.Providing advice and training to local politicians.
