The weight of other people's expectations, the well-paid job in a 'respectable' industry, the years of education, and my own misplaced fears of "falling behind" my peers through the achievement of my friends, kept me in a world I hated.I dreaded going to work. I literally felt like my job was"sucking my soul" out of me. I was 29 years old, completely miserable, and directionless in life. I was going through the motions.The financial services industry has changed enormously over recent times. I feel privileged to be involved at a level where I can help influence and improve the quality of financial advice ordinary Australians receive, so they have the confidence and trust that the advice is appropriate and in their best interests.My professional experience highlights my drive to learn and evolve, through a process of continuously challenging myself.I once read "the quality of your life is determined by two things: the quality of your decision-making process and luck." I'll go one step further and say the personal impact one makes comes entirely from within and we all have the ability to create our own L.U.C.K.E through the Living Union of Curiosity, Knowledge and Experience. This means the quality of the life we lead is entirely in our hands - we may not be able to control the external events, but we can control how we react to them and the impact we have with others.
