• Investigated the mechanisms of the genomic stability of repetitive elements in Drosophila melanogaster using cytological, biochemical, computational and high-throughput techniques• Performed and analyzed a high-content (~760 million data points), image-based RNAi screen using rank-lists, supervised and unsupervised clustering to identify and subsequently verify novel regulators of heterochromatin• Developed an R script using sliding windows to measure ChIP-seq enrichment of broad binding proteins to better understand how the heterochromatic part of the genome is regulated• Automated data analyses and visualization in R of common data types generated in the lab to increase productivity• Taught “Introductory Genetics” and “Cell Biology and Physiology Lab” and received an “Outstanding Instructor” award• Organized technical and professional seminars for three years for the Early Career Scientist Society• Directed independent research projects and mentored undergraduate researchers
