Established and lead this organisation, working to raise the profile of international development within the student/recent graduate geology community and equip young geologists to make an effective, long-term contribution to such work. My role involves, (i) coordinating overall strategy and development, (ii) establishing university chapters, (iii) managing, writing and editing an online blog, (iv) development of resources to support NGOs, (v) giving presentations and seminars to various universities and groups, (vi) coordinating advocacy work, (vii) fundraising (viii) directing our communications, including website management.

This PhD research aimed to increase our understanding and the characterisation of natural hazard interactions, so as to improve multi-hazard approaches to assessing hazard potential. The challenge of cross-disciplinary communication and integration into stakeholder communities was explored through the development of innovative ways of visualising natural hazards and their interactions. Delivering 30 hours of teaching to 70+ second year geography students. This course covers many aspects of natural hazards and their management, drawing on active research and fieldwork, and utilising interactive discussions, technology enhanced learning and practicals. Responsibilities also include all preparation, office hours, administration, assessment and marking.

Based in the Kagera Region of Tanzania, supporting The Tumaini Fund and Eleanor Foundation...May-July 2009: Supported a research project to evaluate a series of water projects, involving technical assessments and semi-structured interviews with stakeholders.September-November 2010: Advising on the remediation of various water projects, following earlier evaluation work.
