I am a composer, author, and theological researcher specialising in sacred music and liturgical theology. My interest in musical theology emerges from my extensive work in music as a composer, orchestrator, and performer, and in turn, my creative work in composition is often born from theological considerations. I have spent half a decade pursuing research in theology and the arts, with a special focus on contemporary sacred music and liturgy. I have written and presented on a wide variety of subjects, including the musical theology of James MacMillan, silence and divine presence in twentieth-century composition, early Christian liturgy and music, and the phenomenology of video games. My doctoral research focused on cosmology and metaphysics in Joseph Ratzinger's (Pope Benedict XVI's) musical theology. My interests lie in the intersection of the conceptual and the practical in the experience of musical transcendence in both sacred and non-sacred settings. As an award-winning composer, I have written music for short and feature-length films, and my musical contributions have been heard in the cinema, television, and homes across the US via DVD video and Netflix. In my work as an orchestrator, I have provided my artistic touch for everything from episodic television, to feature-length documentaries, to large-scale, multi-movement orchestral works.Alternatively, I invest a great deal of time and energy composing and promoting contemporary choral music, specifically for the church. I have started and fostered multiple choral initiatives with various churches, including being invited by two different congregations to help them start their own choir, which included directing rehearsals, conducting performances, and providing consultation on long-term choral development. My original choral works have been heard in churches from coast to coast. I have released more than a dozen recordings, both of original works as well as settings of traditional texts and melodies, which have been streamed millions of times around the world.
