I am a multi-disciplinary creative. My professional practices include both visual communication design (graphic design) and photography. My personal studio practice embraces mixed media, and I work with acrylics, watercolour, and collage.My career in visual communication design spans over thirty years working for a variety of employers from package design firms to the top Marketing agency in Canada. I have produced branding, corporate identities, marketing and advertising materials, retail promotions, and websites.My photography practice is focused on visual documentary work.I received a Bachelor of Fine Art (Specialized Honours) in Visual Communication Design from York University in 1993.     I bought my first camera at a yard sale when I was just a young boy, and have been captivated by photography ever since. The camera was vintage when I bought it, took roll film, and reminded me of the style of cameras I had seen reporters using in old B&W movies. I still have it, and it sits in a place of honour in my studio.I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts, Specialized Honours, from York University in Toronto, Canada. During my time at York University, I immersed myself in the study of photography and graphic design. Since graduating I have been employed as a graphic designer, art director and photographer. I currently operate my own business providing creative services to a variety of clients.I have always been intrigued by the storytelling role of the photographer – questioning what I see and recording moments that are often overlooked and lost to time. We love this program so much that we’re willing to call it the best of its kind in the country!Responsibilities:• Plan and deliver each weekly workshop for 8-16 youth, including but not limited to guest speakers, locations for out of classroom photowalks/gallery tours, class material/content - subject to approval by JAYU Festival Inc.• Providing mentorship to the youth co-mentor, with intention of succession• Providing guidance and leadership of four junior mentors per 8-week term, guest speakers and possible additional support• Working with guest speakers as they are booked for the delivery of each workshop• Ensuring that each youth is prepared and equipped to submit their final assignment for graduation• Follow up weekly with the iAM Program Manager relating to planning, workshop debrief, concerns, guest speakers - any other details related to the program• Assist in the promotion of events and future workshops related to the iAM program• Provide feedback relating to the program entirety, once program has come to a close.• Ensure reporting is completed at the end of each session (shared responsibility amongst co-mentors and junior mentors)
