Although my title and dates have changed, my role is very similar for years now. The recent change is my assignment is now to a leadership team that manages regional and global data centers for Deloitte Technology across the world. This team is managing the data center infrastructure and many services needed by our member firms and internal clients. I still am involved in US data center projects, too.

Initially this was a position with full time responsibility of data protection for the Enterprise Services-managed data centers. Over the years, the role expanded. While in this position I had oversight of- data protection for all file servers managed by Enterprise Services-managed data centers including DR/BCP support (5,000+ servers)- backend infrastructure and application management for Deloitte & Touche laptop backup solution (80,000+ laptops)- management of centralized storage infrastructure in the Enterprise Services-managed data centers including the storage and the network the storage was attached to (10,000,000 GB+)- leased asset management (4,000+ assets)- I managed the procurement of all of the assets managed by this team including the negotiation of pricesWhile serving as a BCP manager I lead dozens of recovery tests.

I moved to this department to provide second level support of the DPS6 mini computers. I orchestrated the retirement of the entire inventory. I also assisted with PC support in our office of about 250 people at that time.I wrote a program in Visual Basic to allow update of files on Novell servers using API calls. I packaged SAP GUI programs for our clients so we could roll out new versions of the SAP client with an auto-install package. The users were various members across our finance organization. I assisted in the support of our Novell file servers and later the implementation of Windows NT.

I joined Deloitte supporting a network of over forty Honeywell Bull DPS6 mini computers. I was responsible operations and maintenance of these systems and other related hardware. I also supported the Time & Expense close where data from across the offices was transferred from the mini computers to the mainframe for processing. This position involved incident management and problem resolution. The importance of getting the systems closed amongst some hardware issues created opportunities to excel in these areas.
