For over 10 years I have served students in higher education demonstrated through actively teaching courses related to health & human performance, chronic disease prevention & management, and sport & wellness management. In addition to teaching, I have advised over 100 undergraduate and graduate student research projects, mentored students in presenting their research at regional, national, and international conferences, and advised various student clubs. My service in higher education also includes developing curriculum, designing an internship program, assessing institutional learning outcomes, serving on the institutional review board, chairing the faculty advisory committee, and collaborating as a senior associate editor. I have also contributed to the body of research in wearable technology and am particularly interested in developing total health through sport and physical activity.While my professional career is in higher education, I am first a husband and father. Other interests include participating in sports and recreational activities, investing, coaching youth sports, and creating board games.

  As a faculty member at Brigham Young University Hawaii my responsibilities have included teaching courses in exercise science related to research, health, nutrition, and fitness. In addition to teaching, assignments have included the development of department programs in Exercise Science, the faculty lead for Institutional Learning Outcomes for the Oral Communication Competency Group, and a committee member for the Institutional Review Board. Research interests include the measurement of energy expenditure in traditional South Pacific and Asian dance and activities, physical activity and public health promotion programs, higher education practices, and mentoring student research.
