I am a former Distribution Manager and Senior Merchandise Planner at Truworths who has made a career change to pursue part-time work and seek the holy grail known as a work-life-balance. I’m also a mom and wife! I hold an advanced degree: MSc Physiological Sciences (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University (2006) and a Business and Systems Analysis certificate from Stellenbosch University Business School (2020). As the former Distribution Manager in the Distribution Department at Truworths (2017 – 2020), I oversaw all merchandise allocations for Truworths, Identity, Uzzi, Office London, and Loads of Living (close to 900 stores). I maintained optimal stock levels across all stores through analysis and strategic decision making and interacted with key role players in the operational zones and merchandise departments. I was also an experienced Senior Merchandise Planner at Truworths (2008 – 2017) and gained both planning and buying experience working in the fashion retail industry. I am skilled in merchandise allocation, merchandise planning, store planning, Arthur, RMS, data analysis, reporting, stock management, OTB management, price point planning, competitor analysis, systems UAT testing, recruitment, training, workshop development, and management. I made a career change in 2020 in order to have more time at home and to pursue hybrid working opportunities. I am currently employed at a Management Consulting firm, IQbusiness, where I source top talent and grow the consultant pool (since April 2022). I am open to work opportunities as a merchandise planner, distribution specialist or analyst in the retail (or a related) industry in Cape Town. In my free time, you can usually find me engaging in creative hobbies like cardmaking, painting and piano. You might also find me with my nose in a book, especially an action-packed science fiction novel! I also tutor primary school aged children in Afrikaans.
