Joel J. Hughey is a partner on the Private Capital and Capital Markets Teams at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. Joel counsels public and private companies, including venture, growth equity and mature stage companies, in multiple industries, including technology, media and telecom, distribution and manufacturing and energy, as well private equity and venture capital investors, in a broad range of corporate, securities and finance matters. His transactional experience includes mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and public and private capital raising – including equity, debt and convertible debt offerings for venture, growth and established public companies. He also counsels boards of directors, corporations and management teams in private equity and going private transactions.In his prior role assisting Premiere Global Services, Joel led the corporate development team responsible for acquisitions, partnerships and other investments, including cross-border, multinational deals. He was also responsible for the legal aspects of all transactions, including leading the negotiation of all legal documentation. During his tenure, Joel closed more than 25 acquisitions and investments in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to Premiere, Joel had 13 years of private practice experience, where he structured, negotiated and closed more than $15 billion in acquisition and public offering transactions for technology and other companies.
