Managed operation of Java application runtime environments and HTTP web servers, while stabilizing and growing a reliable and consistently productive team that was delivering high levels of service to a satisfied customer base.Listened to team concerns and laid out a plan for addressing the primary pain points, including stemming the flow of IT team resignations. Revitalized team by improving morale and freed up internal staff for more critical problems with the migration of first tier operations support to an offshore team — a logical move that eliminated overnight calls to the sys admin team and created a career path for the support team.Directed team to automate the installation of Java Platform and Enterprise Edition (Java 2 EE) containers, as well as to deploy applications to the containers. Provided a consistent deployment configuration for the entire server farm and minimized unplanned downtime by allowing for more rapid problem triage and resolution.

Co-funded by Steven Spielberg.KidsOnline – Designed and implemented an e-Commerce/entertainment site for games, videos, and music.Swap.com – Within 6 weeks, hired key technical staff, and designed, implemented, and launched a website for trading children’s toys.Spun.com – Re-platformed the Spun.com site on Java to leverage the underlying architecture. Migrated site from a two-tier to a three-tier architecture, allowing company to handle a hundredfold increase in sales volume.

Member of the engineering team for the Quorum Compatibility Engine, a portable implementation of the Macintosh Toolbox API for a variety of UNIX platforms.• Participated in the creation of a software product from conception to production. As a result became well versed in all aspects of software development methodology including design, development, quality assurance and publishing.• Implemented the entire Quickdraw specification as defined by Apple Computer’s Inside Macintosh documentation on a variety of UNIX platforms.
