We learned about the science of pollution and the sociology of where contaminated air, land, and water proliferate. Examining these issues, and others, through the lens of liberal arts and sciences helps place these pressing issues within broader social, economic, historical, and cultural contexts. Using people management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills, I maintained a positive, accepting, and educating atmosphere that allowed for mistakes and correction, without shame and embarrassment. -
