Music and how we consume it is constantly shifting. From actual shifts in medium, like how CDs unwound cassettes, Mp3s scratched out CDs, or most recently how streaming services are deleting Mp3s. To shifts in how we measure what's successful or popular, like the massive proliferation of genres and sub-genres that exists today, and while most still aren’t considered mainstream, advances in technology have allowed these specific niches to have large and loyal fanbases. As an ambitious and up-and-coming music industry professional I want to help musicians navigate this fluctuating playing field, as I continue navigate it myself. As a music lover who’s entrenched in this shifting world, and an aspiring professional whose classes have taught him how to build a brand, create marketing strategies, plan tours and live events, and much more, I’m the perfect person to help an artist succeed. I learned how to plan a show through classes like Concert and Events Management, and Business of Music II, then I learned how to book and run those shows through my internship at the City of Toronto Music Office, with shows like City Hall Live. The learned how to manage artists, and cultivate their brands through classes like Social Media Management and Business of Music I, where I planned entire campaigns and strategies to connect artists to the people that wanted to experience their music most. I also enjoy making music, slowly and less than I should, and am super into film, pop culture, and social issues.
