A communications and marketing professional with nearly two decades of experience, Joellen is an expert in developing strategies to communicate complex topics to a range of populations. Most recently in her position as Director of Communications at USAging, Joellen provided strategic leadership and oversight for all of the association’s communications and marketing efforts, including research, message development, media relations, brand management, publications and campaigns. At USAging, Joellen led the creative development and implementation of communications and marketing campaigns that continue to inform and educate audiences about topics key to health and well-being. Prior to her time at USAging, Joellen served as Communications and Outreach Director at the Pension Rights Center where she developed and implemented strategies to increase awareness of the national Pension Counseling and Information Program. Joellen also worked with retirees to develop advocacy and communications strategies to help them secure their earned pension benefits. Joellen holds a bachelor’s degree in English from James Madison University and received a Master of the Arts degree in Communications from Trinity Washington University.
