iApps- Continuing in InternetApplications I assumed more responsibility for new features as well as important bugfixes.Security Task Force- In late 2013 I was also on a task force to improve the security of the car infotainment system.- Researchers have been able to hack into cars and take over the steering, braking and other critical systems for years. Typically this was done by getting people to play virus-infected music files or use compromised USB devices. However as more and more cars offer internet-enabled services it becomes much easier to attack an individual car remotely.- This task force was mainly charged with closing some of the security holes that were discovered by an independent penetration-testing team. The main focus was on trying to sandbox individual components so that they become less tempting targets for hackers.- This required changes both at the architecture level, as well as actual refactoring of application code to adhere to security guidelines.Training- I was also in charge of handling the training of two new joinees to the team and ensuring that they became contributing members as soon as possible. - Since they joined as freshers it took about 2 months until they could be put onto actual deliverables, but that was still a faster than average (as far as I know).

Navcopy- By late 2012 point I was the lead developer for the Navcopy component and oversaw some major concept changes in the architecture of the component as well as regular deliveries.iApps- In January 2013 I shifted to a new project to work on a component called InternetApplications (iApps). iApps is a webkit-based, automotive app-development framework that allows third parties to write and publish apps as HTML5 bundles that then get downloaded and run on users' cars.- My work was in developing the API's that would be used by these application developers, including maintenance and improvement of existing code.- In this role I was also sent for a 5 month deputation to Germany to get hands-on experience while also working closely with our customers there.Performance-optimization task force- In early 2013 I was in a task force focused on improving the start-up time of the iApps component to bring it to within acceptable levels.- This included working with tools such as SystemTap to analyze the exact operations that were consuming time on startup.
