Built budget and execution plan to obtain $100M budget to support the delivery of citizen and agency outcomes. Drove alignment across federal policymakers, national security standards organizations, and federal agencies to deliver a platform that integrates with all, while meeting stringent security requirements. Interface with senior executive leadership (CIOs and CTOs) from Social Security, IRS, Treasury, Federal CIO, Federal CTO, and other agencies to drive policy support and agency adoption.

Elected Member of EvoNexus, a technology industry nonprofit serving the Southern California area to accelerate the formation, growth, and success of the local technology industry through content-driven programs that provide access to capital, talent, and business development. Advised and mentored local technology start-ups in EvoNexus, a community-supported, fully pro-bono technology incubator of EvoNexus located in two cities, San Diego and Irvine.

Led Data Science and Data Engineering for Intuit TurboTax, which generates over $1.7B in revenue per year. Led team of 32 engineers. Created data science and data engineering strategy that provided insight into 29 million customers per year. Recruited top data scientists and engineers who transformed data ecosystem to provide business insights via streamlined data engineering. Built models that transformed customer experience via machine-learned data insights.Built data science capabilities from scratch which included a massive data store to gain valuable insights across the Inuit enterprise. Migrated from vendor tracking to 100% enterprise tracking, which increased quality while reducing delays in data availability. Increased conversion through innovative data science feeding front-end experiences.

Led TurboTax operations, which drives the critical availability of the Turbotax experience during the most critical times. Led 50 people across software engineering, analytics and operations. Drove alignment across disparate teams across many different SVPs, creating a virtual team responsible for delivering tax season. Led the end to end TurboTax Super Bowl system preparedness resulting in 100% uptime for our users regardless of load. Drove extremely high reliability and availability in TurboTax’s end to end platforms through great focus on scalable and reliable architecture and processes. Uptime of site during tax peak season was 99.99%.

Led TurboTax online, the highest revenue cloud based solution (SAAS) for Intuit. Led 55 people across software engineering,web experiences, and load testing. Implemented agile development across team driving shorter development cycles and quicker product to market. Statistical-based data driven optimization improved conversion rates and revenue via customer experience. Notable projects include My TurboTax, Net spend Refund Card, and Amazon Refund Bonus. Successfully drove large scale change in moving team from yearly waterfall planning to two week sprints, increasing agility and overall delivery.

Led team of 18 developers who created software that generates $7B+/year in sales on eBay fashion vertical worldwide. Built data infrastructure to increase conversion rates in highest potential categories such as Watches, Handbags and Shoes. Increased buyer traffic to eBay fashion site by 200% through optimizing site for SEO and SEM. Drove development and integration with two top tier Fashion brands, increasing eBay’s brand and overall sales. Built fashion personalization engine which enables individual buying experiences and personalized targeted marketing. Notable projects include NikeMag (eBay Charity Site), eBay Outlet, eBay Fashion Vault and Derek Lam + eBay; received national press and significant recognition from global fashion industry.

Mentored and trained 20 developers in eBay China to help drive 66% reduction in development costs. Built data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to reliably transfer listings, bids, and feedback (3 of the largest and most important data sets in eBay data warehouse). Designed and developed data load processes to maximize efficiency and reduce load times. Provided batch on-call support for data warehouse to ensure successful production runs throughout the day.

Managed team of 5 developers that built New Channel’s core software product, real-time online customer interaction suite. Re-architect database to introduce normalization which greatly improved NewChannel data integrity. Developed, administered, and monitored customer databases to ensure 24 X 7 uptime. Design custom OLAP processes/SQL to aggregate data. Wrote Business Objects reports to fit business requirements.

Architect Oracle database from scratch to handle B2B transactions. Develop PL/SQL scripts to exchange data between ERP and web databases. Design custom OLAP processes to aggregate business data and display in Business Objects. Build staging database to allow data scrubbing/transfer from legacy ERP to B2C site. Build Solaris and Linux machines to be used as development web/database servers.
