I am a passionate musician and acoustician whose expertise is mainly in building acoustics, specifically acoustic predictions of building elements. For over 15 years, I worked alongside Peter Knowland, who pioneered acoustics in Australia, on significant performing arts spaces and venues, continuing Peter’s legacy by delivering the highest quality advice for each project undertaken. I am the principal of PKA Acoustic Consulting which is one of the oldest acoustics firms in Sydney and Australia.I am the key personnel behind the CSR Red Book acoustic predictions as well as other CSR products such as Gyprock, Bradford, Martini, AFS, Cemintel, and Hebel.My extensive involvement with lightweight construction, design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) and modular construction methods (such as XLAM, Viridi, TBS, and CLT) provides myself and PKA with a unique understanding of the multifaceted and complex procedures that comes with modern methods of construction (MMC). I am currently involved with the Schools Infrastructure NSW (SINSW), in a project developing a MMC Kit-of-Parts catalogue for state-wide rollout and includes complex coordination across all consulting disciplines. I have completed an MMC education project at Fern Bay Public School coordinating with Woods Bagot, Lipman and Viridi, and currently working on three MMC education projects with Lipman, Bennet & Trimble, Viridi and Timber Building Solutions. I am heavily involved with the cutting edge of developing construction technology in all of Australasia, and regarded as an authority in massive timber construction, having developed acoustic predictors for cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction and delivered a number of significant massive timber developments. In 2016 I prepared an extensive acoustic research program into Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) in conjunction with the Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) and the NSW Timber Development Association (TDA). I continue to provide expert advice to XLam Australia and CLT suppliers in ongoing and upcoming CLT developments.I've provided acoustic advice in developing products for companies such as Brickworks, Studco, Lorient, Kilargo, Ultrafloor, Harpro, Poly-Tek, Strammit, Ritek, UBIQ, XCEM and E-Panel.
