As a researcher and neurologist with expertise in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry, I believe both treatment and prevention are vital to the mission of helping people live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. To this end, my long-term goal is to enhance population-wide brain health by developing and deploying strategies to prevent the onset of devastating chronic brain disease as well as preserve, restore, and enhance cognitive function. My current work focuses on two primary areas:1) Identifying modifiable risk factors for better brain health by analyzing data from several large-scale longitudinal cohorts, including the Framingham Heart Study and the Women’s Health Initiative2) Using the intersection of biology and sociology to understand the mechanisms through which social relationships alter biology and harness what we learn to improve brain health for the population Reach out to talk about brain health, early detection and prevention of neurologic disease, healthcare delivery systems, synesthesia, neurodiversity, human behavior, startups, or unconventional ideas in health and technology that border between lunacy and moonshot. I also speak various dialects of nerd and geek. As research fellow, I do extensive literature reviews and use this information to make formal proposals regarding what should be included in the standard set to the working group, which is made up of international stroke neurology and stroke registry experts. ICHOM is a non-profit organization founded by the Harvard Business School, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Karolinska Institute with the purpose to transform health care systems worldwide by measuring and reporting patient outcomes in a standardized way. -
