Joel Scott is a Program Executive for Earth Science Data Systems in the Earth Science Division of the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC.Joel has years of experience in foundational research, applied science, data science, and program building and management for the federal government across multiple NASA centers and facilities. With formal training in Earth system science, in remote sensing, and in radiative transfer theory, Joel has built his career using Earth observations to study ecosystem function, climate change, and the carbon cycle.Joel firmly believes that advanced Earth observations, data, and models, leveraged for societal benefit, will enable humankind to thrive on our home planet under a changing climate.
