Joel Spicer is the President and CEO of Nutrition International (formerly the Micronutrient Initiative), a global organization dedicated to delivering proven nutrition interventions to those who need them most. Founded in 1992, Nutrition International works in partnership with countries, donors and implementers, conducts cutting-edge nutrition research, supports critical policy formulation, and integrates nutrition into broader development programs in more than 60 countries, primarily in Asia and Africa. Joel is committed to growing Nutrition International's impact in global health and development through stronger programs, new approaches, and a 'no-missed-opportunities' mindset. With over 20 years of experience in international development and public health, Joel has engaged across multiple interconnected issues, including nutrition and health initiatives; maternal and child health programs; TB control and HIV programming; and innovative financing and resource mobilization. Prior to joining Nutrition International, Joel served as Senior Strategist at the World Health Organization’s Stop TB Partnership, where he successfully led efforts on engaging the mining sector in Africa, drove engagement by BRICS leaders, and helped lay the foundation for a new level of ambition in global targets for tuberculosis. Previous to the World Health Organization, Joel was at the World Bank, UNICEF, and the Canadian International Development Agency.
