I'm in a position to take a little time off to reset and ponder what I want next in life. I am open to exploring interesting opportunities in Information Security leadership as well as possible teaching opportunities. Over my current 6 year run at Schwab I have overhauled the previous content in Arcsight that was originally written by me and replaced it with newer more advanced content, using more sophisticated techniques I had developed. Over the course of several years Arcsight had lost its luster as an industry leader with its sale to HP then MicroFocus and it was time to switch technologies. I led the investigation into replacement technologies with examination of various flavors of Hadoop and other big data platforms and finally settled on Splunk Enterprise Security as the workflow had finally reached a level of maturity I was satisfied with. With a small talented team I led a successful transition project to move our 10 years of experience to the new platform, ensuring we established proper training, metrics, audit, compliance, and governance controls along the way. I am proud to say it was a great success, and I and my team have now developed a deep skill set in a new platform along the way. We continue to take this product beyond the limits intended by the vendor, just as we did with Arcsight, by supplementing its own features with our own creativity and code.

Technical Lead for the Operational Security Team for Catholic Healthcare West account. Responsible for vulnerability assessment, Intrusion detection and response, wireless security, VPN and remote access, variance management, penetration testing, HIPPA compliance validation. Leading a small team of security professionals to secure an enterprise with over 300 physical locations in AZ, NV and CA.

Responsible for leading a team of network and system administrators to manage a large enterprise production system, providing self help, real time chat, CRM and e-commerce applications to customers. This is a very hands on position involving extensive network administration duties as well as leadership. I also currently hold titles of Information Security Manager and Helpdesk Manager.
