My commitment to independent working-class journalism is rooted in the lived experience of my grandfather, a New York City taxi driver who used his meager earnings to support our family until the cab stand owner disappeared and left employees jobless. I believe in the power of journalism to chronicle injustice and upend the status quo. Working people deserve better. These are the stories I investigate and write about: stories that spotlight exploitation, reveal criminality, and herald the truly heroic. As the Founder of Work-Bites, Inc., a grassroots multimedia platform reporting daily on the world of work, I oversee a team of dedicated labor journalists covering the ongoing crisis in the labor movement, the plight of municipal workers fighting to retain their traditional Medicare, the barriers to care facing 9/11 survivors, and other needed stories. Previous to Work-Bites, I served as Senior Editor and Chief News Correspondent at the fledgling labor news outlet, LaborPress.org. Building a team of six contributing writers, I programmed and designed editorial content across all LaborPress platforms, including a website (100K page views/yr), e-newsletter (55K subscribers), and magazine (2500+ subscribers). I reported on the fight for $15/hr minimum wage, the protests following the killing of George Floyd, the blocking of basic protections for U.S. farmworkers, and 1K+ other stories of working people. My career started at Courier-Life Publications (11 newspapers, later acquired by NewsCorp.) in Brooklyn, where I served as Chief Headline Writer, wrote thousands of hyper-local news stories, and copyedited staff-wide content. In addition, I’ve freelanced for numerous outlets, including Kirkus Reviews, DC Report.org, Raw Story, Common Dreams, and The New York Post. My freelance copyediting work includes the 1199SEIU Magazine, serving the largest healthcare union in the U.S. today. My expertise includes: • Human-Centered Journalism• Story Development• News and Feature Writing• Copyediting• Researching• Fact-Checking• Interviewing• Photojournalism• Podcast & Video Producing• Social Media & Website Management• Team/Newsroom Leadership• Rapport Building Speaking truth to power and amplifying the voices of those living in precarious conditions is a tireless mission I am fully committed to. I foster integrity, respect, and connection, whether interviewing politicians, union leaders, rank-and-file workers, actors, or academics. Journalistic excellence matters now more than ever. I’m open to full-time and freelance assignments. Let’s talk.
