My role for this Canadian literary magazine is to create the layout and design of each issue. My role as a photographer for Grand Magazine is to attend local events such as galas, dinners, fundraisers and retirement parties to photograph guests in attendance to be featured in the Crowd Appeal section of this bi-monthly magazine. Some occasional product photography was also created.

As one of the in-house designers, I was responsible for designing brochures, manuals, posters, sales presentations, and websites for the Big Backyard, Cedar Summit and Yardistry brands. Much of our photography was done in-house so I was also required to assist and run photo shoots for both concept pieces and new and finalized products. The final images, specifically the concepts, were often composite shots that went through extensive Photoshop work.

For about a year I was one of the photographers that was hired out by Boulevard Photography. Typical jobs in this position included events like grand openings of upscale retail stores, family photos, children’s birthday parties, and even Bat Mitzvahs. After each shoot I was required to cull and edit the images I took and in some cases design a layout photo albums. Retail sales was also part of this role, albeit a very limited one.

This was a small design company where I worked as one of the designers on staff. Similar to my previous position, I designed logos, created layouts for ads, brochures as well as packaging pieces. As a small team of two, we spent much time working together on projects so were able to bounce a lot of ideas off each other and combine our creative ideas into the finished product.

I worked in the pre-press department of this mid-sized printing company for a little over a year and a half. I performed a multitude of tasks in this position, most of which included preparing files for printing. The projects I worked on ranged from business cards and letterheads to newsletters and books. On top of the pre-press work, I also worked on some design jobs and also worked in the bindery department from time to time.
