Branch is on a mission to restore insurance back to its original intent - a force for communal good. Insurance was created when neighbors banded together to protect one another from financial disaster. But somewhere along the line, it lost its way: high costs, complicated policies, invasive enrollment, pain-in-the-neck claims and marketing warfare. Branch is here to put an end to the madness. Founded by a mix of insurance and technology vets, Branch is the first insurer built to optimize the process of bundling home and auto insurance. Offering simple ways to mobilize communities of members, leveraging the benefits of scale to constantly lower premiums, streamlining the claims process, and working to enrich the communities it serves, Branch is getting us back to getting each other’s back.

I oversaw and consulted on portfolio company product and technology efforts. In this role, I built and led the team that built Spaceful (commercial real estate tour app launched in under 3 months and had more than 500 paying customers in its first year). Spaceful was ultimately acquired by Newmark Knight Frank.

I was the technical co-founder of the nation’s leading building-permit-data aggregator, running/overseeing (at times) the data collection, product, infrastructure, information security, and software development teams. I did the initial data science (including ML) work that drove the leading products for roof age (mainly used by insurers) and equity investors (leading the census’s reporting by more than 2 weeks). BuildFax was acquired by DMGT (search permit histories at BuildFax.com)

I built the initial products for BUILDERadius, including the first set of Windows and Web applications to allow contractors to apply and for building permits over the Internet. I helped build out the implementation and support teams, and helped close the first 25 sales. BUILDERadius’s core set of products (BluePrince) were sold to Harris Computer (still available at blueprince.com).

As an independent software developer, I designed and developed several games, including Bulletin Board System "door" games, the award-winning Mutant Chicken Races (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQQVKrDbX2Q), as well as the first software to make the iPod work with Windows, EphPod (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EphPod). I sold EphPod to Wind Solutions (still available at EphPod.com)
