Cultivated a learning organization by shifting the corporate culture to emphasize teamwork, two-way communication, employee development, succession planning, and empowerment. As a result, the credit union can better identify and respond to challenges and market opportunities in an increasingly turbulent environment. Re-branded from Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union to better facilitate long-term growth. Launch CU manages over $1.3 billion in assets and serves over 85,000 members. Collaborated with an outside consultant and the Board of Directors to transform the board governance process, including a revised board agenda, board committee structure, and board succession plan. As a result, the board shifted from a tactical to a strategic focus, delegated meaningful work to committees, and began recruiting new board members with the core competencies required for the future. -

President/CeoTucson Old Pueblo Credit Union Sep 2008 - Aug 2012Tucson, Az, UsAccepted a challenging position as CEO with a troubled credit union in September 2008 as the economy fell into a severe recession. Developed a strategic plan to refocus on core members from City of Tucson employee groups and decrease reliance on the indirect channel for growth. Overhauled the risk-based-pricing tiers and underwriting criteria for consumer and real estate lending to better reflect credit risk and reduce future loan losses. Despite challenging local economic conditions, the credit union returned to profitability with an ROA of 1.09% in 2010 and 1.05% in 2011. Also, as a result of the streamlined management structure and an empowered staff, member service improved and higher member satisfaction ratings were achieved within 18 months. -
