Callwave acquired WebMessenger to obtain the technology and engineering resources to enable them to rapidly enter the enterprise web conferencing and collaboration market.

After leading the sale and subsequent repurchase of WebMessenger, I manage all strategic and operational aspects of the business. As an independent company, we are now exclusively focused on developing and marketing our enterprise mobile messaging technology and business productivity applications and solutions for BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Mobile, and Symbian mobile devices. We have focused on the financial services vertical initially, gaining significant traction through sales of our WebMessenger Mobile solutions that enable these companies to extend Microsoft OCS 2007 and Group Chat to their BlackBerrys. In parallel, we launched our new carrier-class presence and mobile real-time communications platform that enables the deployment of large scale, geographically redundant wireless messaging services. Through global carrier, solution OEM, and reseller agreements, we provide partners with recurring revenue-generating, value-added mobile enterprise software and services offerings.

Apptix acquired WebMessenger to obtain the technology and engineering resources to enable them to transform from a SaaS email provider to a SaaS messaging and collaboration provider with comprehensive mobile support across all mobile platforms. Apptix targeted the small to medium sized business market. As VP of Mobile Product & Services, I was responsible for mobile product strategy, as well as sales and marketing for the WebMessenger division of Apptix.

Performed market research, defined market opportunity, authored PRDs, and developed business plan. • Managed the matrix organization of product managers, engineers, and marketing, sales, and customer support representatives responsible for the corporate channel services, which included the Internet-based fax and voice services, the www.j2corporate.com web site, web-based account management tools, and client software. • Responsible for eFax Messenger Plus, the client software front-end for the eFax service used by more than 8 million consumer and enterprise customers.• Managed the PaperMaster document management software product line, which targeted consumer and SOHO markets. Localized product and web site to six languages. • Managed integration and launch of eFax for Microsoft Office 2003.

Subsequently awarded two-year, $1.2 million contract. Managed design, development, and launch of this service. Contract renewed in October 2004.

• Defined market opportunity and business plan for introduction of eFax.com’s Internet fax and communications services to the corporate marketplace. • Launched first generation of the eFax Corporate service in October 2000.• eFax.com was acquired by j2 Global Communications, Inc. in November 2000.

• Managed complete product life cycle, from initial concept to end-of-life, for networked fax/scanner/copier products distributed worldwide under the Konica, Okidata, and JetFax brand names. Managed cross-functional project team of hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, and QA personnel.• Conducted primary market research through discussions with end users and office equipment dealer managers and sales representatives. Insightful product enhancements and quick time to market enabled JetFax to successfully compete with Canon, Minolta, Sharp, and other multinational competitors.• Worked directly with Japanese printer engineers and manufacturing managers to improve product performance and lower material and production costs.• Responsible for all U.S. and international safety and regulatory approvals (e.g. FCC Parts 15 & 68, UL/CUL, CISPR).• Product marketing liaison to JetFax’s distributors in Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

• Responsible for CAD design, component engineering, compliance engineering, and quality assurance.• Technical liaison to Xerox’s QA and manufacturing teams during 12-month MFP product development project, including on-site consulting for the implementation of the production line at Xerox’s manufacturing facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

During the summers of 1988-1990, I worked offshore on seismic boats charting for oil and natural gas. My duties ranged from repair and maintenance of the seismic equipment to monitoring the on board computers during production runs. The jobs I worked took me to the Gulf of Mexico, Bay of Biscay, North Atlantic, and the North Sea.
