Interacting with government is a pain. We are on a mission to make accessing public information a breeze, for businesses and citizens.

At Deloitte, I helped governments use emerging technologies to improve operations or identify new channels. I had the opportunity to work across the country on projects that span the strategy-implementation continuum, with a focus on developing the operational policies, business processes, and continuous improvement strategies required to enable new programs or services.

Big Data Analytics:Writing Big Data Analytics cases under the supervision of Professor John Wilson for his MBA and MSc classes. Many of the statistical concepts covered in these classes---logistic regression, neural nets, clustering, and survival analysis, among others---have had no Ivey-style cases written about them. As a result, I am grateful for the opportunity to practice creative writing in the context of statistical analysis, describing how to solve business problems using these novel tools.Business Communications:Supporting Professor Kanina Blanchard's HBA and MSc business communications classes as a grader. Selected to serve as the only intern in Canada for Deloitte's Public Policy Thinktank, leveraging the data analytics skills I had built over the past years to play a critical role in the development of research papers published by the team. Learned from incredible individuals and leaders I still call friends.• Supported the Future of Canada Centre (FCC) in producing public policy analysis and thought leadership.• Used unsupervised machine learning to help the creation of the FCC's scale-ups focused white-paper. • Created an analytics dashboard for federal election monitoring. • Helped with data visualization and analytics for the digital equity report.

With limited data analytics skills, I quickly got up to speed to support a team that played a critical function at Tucows. As I started, the new Head of Analytics also joined, and I worked to support them in identifying and leveraging new tools---such as event tracking and a customer data platform---to improve our team's ability to deliver cogent data products to executives. • Learned the fundamentals of data analysis, using languages like SQL, R, and LookML to create analytics dashboards for executive-level end-users.• Gained insight into every piece of a corporate analytics team’s work, understanding data flows, transformations, event tracking, Q/A processes, and project management.• Crafted an extensive research report on international market entry opportunities for c-suite executives. • Led cost-benefit analysis to decide between SaaS vendors.

The Free Food For Thought Podcast is a student-led podcast that interviews interesting and influential individuals who visit Claremont Mckenna College. As an interviewer, I had the luxury of interviewing two personal heroes of mine, former CIA Director John Brennan and former Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power. Through this position, I not only had the opportunity to learn from and speak with incredibly accomplished individuals, but was also able to develop skills in how to interview and communicate effectively.

For four years at Claremont Mckenna College, I worked as a research assistant and eventually, a project manager, at the Rose Institute. Developed fundamental skills in academic writing, policy analysis, and what it takes to create powerful content. • Researched aspects of state and local government, writing white-papers on issues such as prison overpopulation, democratic access, and redistricting,• Gained research skills, becoming adept at reading scholarly literature and performing quantitative analysis on government documents, • Learned how to craft a research project, as well as articulate and present that research at conferences,• Utilized software like Stata to create models and run regressions on different datasets• Managed the Rose's video projects, which involved creating voter-friendly, accessible videos related to municipal government structure

Had the opportunity to work full-time at a top political consulting firm during the 2018 Mid-Term Election while taking night classes. Learned what it is like to be thrown into the pressure cooker, working with a team managing over 20 congressional campaigns with incredibly high-stakes. Proud to have helped the Democrats secure a majority and to have learned from and worked with people who are now in top positions in this administration. • Played an active role in the creation of political advertising, working on every part of the process including background research, film production, editing, and ad-buys, • Monitored over 20 of the most competitive house races in which our firm had clients, utilizing software such as TVeyes, Admo, and Cision to update SKDK’s client teams about developments in their congressional races, • Researched opposition candidates' voting records, past statements, and other information to assist in the creation of compelling advertisements, • Led the effort in creating the SKDK's 2018 Election Overview which outlined the firm’s wins in the mid-term elections, media that is still used by the firm.

Spent the best 11 summers of my life on the shores of Lake Couchiching. Had the privilege of going through the entire camp life-cycle, starting out as a camper, becoming a counsellor, and eventually, serving on the head staff team as program director.
