Havo Business, een initiatief voor Havo 4 en 5 leerlingen, betrekt het baantje juist bij de school. Want, het op de juiste manier combineren van school en werk biedt de kans tot extra expliciete leerervaringen. Bij Havo Business krijgt de leerling uit Havo 4 en 5 de kans om te reflecteren op ervaringen op het werk en te leren op de volgende gebieden: sociale vaardigheden: samenwerken, reflecteren, feedback geven en ontvangen en het oplossen van conflicten.Het baantje dient als relevante en sociale context.Anders dan in de schoolbanken, is het baantje een omgeving waar de leerlingen in de praktijk dingen zien gebeuren. Het werk van de leerling heeft voor de school een belangrijke functie. Door werk en school te ‘combineren’, ervaren ze dat wat ze in hun baantje de normaalste zaak van de wereld vinden (op tijd komen, een afspraak nakomen, samenwerken), op school ook aan de orde van de dag is. Het leerproces wordt gestimuleerd door het baantje en maakt het leren expliciet.De leerling ervaart minder stress of alles wel op tijd af komt.De leerlingen worden zelfstandig en gaan verantwoordelijk om met de keuzes die op hun pad komen. Nieuwe keuzes die leiden tot een betere planning. Ook zijn de leerlingen beter voorbereid op een vervolgstudie, waar zelfstandig en verantwoord werken en goede sociale vaardigheden erg belangrijk zijn.
