Began the movement of QA test systems from local physical machines into the Amazon (AWS) cloud, as well as deployment of QA test systems for integrations of Luminate Online with other CRM solutions.

Oversaw all supporting services within Engineering, including User Experience, Build/Tools, Technical Writing, as well as a Software Development team that focused on performance and scalability.Managed development of a 24x7 web-based system loading hundreds of test sites across dozens of servers that ran tens of thousands of automated tests nightly, focusing on continuous improvement and ever-increasing Dev/QA productivity.Began leading Convio's User Experience (UX) team in 2008. Integrated it much more closely with Engineering and Product Management. Increased UX involvement in new feature development from 50% to 100%, guided increased user research activities, and led improvements of the client experience via UX enhancements across the product. Established Convio's onscreen text and online help translation process into French and Spanish. Worked closely with a third-party translation service to develop a simultaneous release process across three languages.

Convio provided web-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions and Internet consulting services to charitable organizations.Initially managed half of the Engineering team, including oversight of the Build/Tools Team. Established most of Convio's original client site upgrade system that updated hundreds of client sites while preserving client customizations.Given responsibility for Customer Support in 2002, growing the Customer Support team from 1 to 4 support analysts over 3 years, overseeing the successful installation of Convio's first web-based customer support system, and finally transitioning the team to a dedicated Manager of Customer Support in 2004.Re-expanded Quality Assurance in 2003, first establishing a dedicated team of QA engineers. Oversaw expansion of the QA team offshore to a 12-person team beginning in 2004. Taught the offshore QA team about the operation of Convio's test systems, established procedures and test plan outlines for the team, and coordinated their work with the rest of the onshore QA team.

Developed Tivoli's Boot Camp program, a rotational program for elite college hires. Created the program from scratch. Staffed a core initial team and built a program that was considered a model of new hire development within Tivoli and IBM. Over a one and a half year period, hired 16 full-time employees and 31 interns. Achieved an intern to full-time conversion rate of 40%, and an intern return rate of 100%.Prior to the leading the Tivoli Boot Camp, I managed a team of developers and technical writers to deliver a set of scripts, tools, and docs for Tivoli customers to use to implement migrations for the Tivoli Enterprise 3.6 release. Released the product after an aggressive seven-month target deadline.

Tivoli was a division within IBM Software Group that developed a suite of systems management software products for large customers.Joined Tivoli as a Java programmer, working on a Java-based, multithreaded tool that allowed Tivoli software to be installed to hundreds of remote clients in parallel. Led development of the first Early Support Program (a high-touch beta program) conducted at Tivoli. Coordinated the development team to a set of aggressive milestones, wrote user education documentation, and taught the program to customers and consultants working the field. This pilot program was used as the model for future Early Support Programs at Tivoli.

Compu-Train was a privately owned software training firm serving the northwest Indiana area.Educated corporate clients and individual customers in a wide variety of software packages, specializing in spreadsheets, databases and relational database design and Internet topics. Consulted with clients on various programming projects.

Synergis was a private software company that developed telecommunications network optimization software for large telecom clients.Led a new product release of a Windows-based wide-area telecommunications network optimization package. Introduced object-oriented techniques and structured design into the organization and migrated the product from C to C++.
