I relocated back to DFW in summer of 2013. I am currently teaching Music Fundamentals and Music Appreciation at North Lake College where I am working on expanding the music program. Prior to my arrival, the program offered core level Music Appreciation, Theory/Musicianship, class piano, guitar, and one jazz ensemble. All other ensembles had been defunct for years and the program has little to no rapport with area feeder programs. Recruiting internally using queries generated by Institutional Research, I have started a Symphonic Band despite limited inventory and budget and have started a Steel Band with some instruments I built myself. I designed a brand for the department and created colorful ads for print and social media promoting offerings for the entire department, not just my own classes. I am also working on initiating digital music classes with an initial investment of $5700 of software and controllers that will function in an underutilized PC computer lab.

Percussionist for 2-week long China tour; performances in Dalian, Qingdao, Yantai, Shanghai, and Beijing.

Directed the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, two steel band classes (I built all the instruments and arranged almost all of their music over a 6 year period), and the weekly recital series of the applied music program. I served as the chair of the department from 2003-2008. Founded the annual Carnival of Steel festival, a steel band music festival that brings school-based steel bands and concertgoers together with the local Caribbean diaspora. Served on the Council for Teaching and Learning and numerous search committees for full-time faculty, classified staff, and deans. Responsible for academic advising of transfer-track music majors. My program graduates successfully transferred to University of North Texas, Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, Berklee, University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M-Commerce, and the Eastman School of Music.

Extra section percussion; Performed under the direction of Jerry Junkin and Frederick Fennell, including the 2001 CBDNA conference held at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.

Solo steel drum artist; regularly performed between 12 and 20 shows per month

Instructed percussion classes under supervision of director Todd Toney. Composed and arranged music for percussion ensemble and drumline. Built Caribbean steel drum instruments, amadinda xylophone, and other small percussion instruments.
