Joseph Casey has over nine years as a professional software engineer dealing with data manipulation and algorithm optimizations in various environments such as native desktop applications, mobile applications, web servers and worker processes, and game engines. He has architected highly performant solutions for unique problems, including least caloric expenditure path-finding across miles of terrain data within military C2 systems. Mr. Casey has been a web developer for over fourteen years, and has worked with content management systems, bulletin boards, and real-time applications. While at Applied Visions, he has done full-stack web development for several commercial clients needing new features; and another requiring their web application rebuilt. He is capable of learning and rapidly adopting new technologies, as he is frequently included on projects with no prior experience with the libraries, frameworks, or even languages. Joe is often tapped for proposal writing for new business or is consulted to see if he "knows anything about this". Joe has designed and implemented Serious Games teaching both highly technical skills and "common sense" best practices, and he has written about issues inherent in Serious Games.Before Applied Visions, he was an integral part of the startup company MixPool which endeavored to combine natural language processing and Facebook's social graph. He also tried a venture of his own, Glass Cannon Games. Prior he was employed by IBM for development on a content management web application and game application server. Joe holds a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Game Design and Programming from Marist College as well as an M.S. in Software Development from the same institution. His graduate work focused on Natural Language Processing and Distributed Systems.
