Jörg Rädler works at the german Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing) as a systems engineer and IT service manager for Linux systems.For more than twelve years he was the head of the IT infrastructure and the computer pool at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Planning at the Berlin University of the Arts. He worked in various research projects, mainly for the simulation of buildings and energy systems.After studying energy engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, he and some colleagues founded a company of consulting engineers and worked for nearly a decade on energy concepts and energy consultancy for construction and renovation projects, some with specially developed and adapted simulation software.Today Jörgs interest in software technology merges more and more with the current developments of microcontrollers and mechatronics, the IoT combined with his own set-ups. Besides his work at the university, Jörg develops and implements technical systems for art projects, interactive exhibits for museums, measuring and control stations for research projects, and tools for the interface hardware/software/manufacturing. His knowledge from the industrial training as a mechanic is a good base for this, as well as several decades of experience in IT administration and the development of open source software tools.
