An avid team worker who believes in the value of an effective team.·Experienced in designing electro-mechanical systems within the robotics and sensor industries.· Confident with using system design tools to gather user/system requirements and develop system architectures (Stake holder maps, affinity diagrams, context diagrams, functional modelling, systemic textual analysis, viewpoint analysis, function means analysis, Pugh matrixes, system diagrams, FMEA).· Mechanical design skills to design products, components, tooling and test rigs; using CAD (NX, Solidworks) to generate 3D models and 2D specifications (to BS 8888).· Proficient in design for manufacturing and assembly: machining, injection moulding, vacuum moulding, casting, laser cutting, chemical etching, forming, stamping, additive manufacturing, PCBA manufacturing, optics manufacturing, adhesive assembly.· Confident in using analytical techniques to make technical decisions (calculations, FEA (Comsol/ANSYS), testing, data analysis, DFMEA’s).· Confident in the use of Product Lifecycle Management systems (Teamcenter, Solidworks PDM) and have been involved in their implementations (designing workflows to ensure business quality).· Project management experience from being a Technical Lead on camera system projects (to scope technical work packages and ensure they are delivered at cost and on time) and working within Waterfall/Agile project management styles.· Strong technical leadership skills in coordinating, directing and reviewing cross functional engineering team work through product/systems development, using the system engineering process and v-model.· Proficient in the use of 8D principles to troubleshoot and resolve problems efficiently (Fishbone diagrams being a notable effective tool used).· Effective communication skills in presenting, email, Microsoft Office and Confluence; notably to communicate project statuses and design decisions to management, stakeholders and manufacturers.· Capable of producing high quality documentation: Requirement documents (ISO 15288), system diagrams, engineering drawings (BS8888), validation and verification plans, FMEA’s, test reports, assembly instructions, product collateral, BOM’s.
