Working as technical lead rotating between five departments to aid in executing their highest priority projects.Worked on a federation platform to allow access to internal tooling to Comcast's business-to-business customers. Helped build a collection of React components that provided shared authentication, authorization and navigation across multiple disparate existing applications so that they appeared as a cohesive single app to customers. Built a performant backend in TypeScript and gRPC to support that service.Currently, I'm working on expanding an existing Kubernetes platform built on RKE2 to support teams onboarding to move on-premise for cost savings. This work has included building improvements to its GitOps model, building and configuring clusters using Istio and Argo Rollouts for a safe, incremental deploy strategy, and training teams as they onboard to Kubernetes in general.

As a Site Reliability Engineering leader, scaled microservices used by more than 30 million customers in the US and in the EU. These microservices are relied on by dozens of internal teams to track device and account information used for streaming video, video recommendations, and home security. Improved all aspects of software delivery, from faster and more effective PR reviews to deployment automation to monitoring and alerting performance and availability.Added service discovery, monitoring and alerting to our services through a combination of Consul, Prometheus, and Grafana.Moved over 30 services first from entirely on-premise to fully cloud-based in AWS. Led the change into infrastructure as code in moving our services into EC2 auto-scaling groups with terraform and terragrunt.Built microservices in Ruby for back-office device and account management as a Principal Software Engineer. Built an email notification service to notify users of unrecognized device logins using Elixir and DynamoDB.

Increased Comcast's market share by deploying microservices and APIs in JRuby to support third-party cable companies. These services allowed third-party companies to use Comcast's device and account management services without rewriting any of the existing services. This initiative included building a new JWT authentication and authorization service, a translation layer API to ensure tenant data was kept separate, and a caching layer using Couchbase to improve performance. This smooth and efficient move to multi-tenant services allowed the company to nearly double their customer base.Built a prototype for controlling video playback between mobile devices and streaming devices. Wrote a mobile JavaScript application for the user interface and an XMPP-based backend for receiving the and processing the playback commands.Built a Rails application to monitor the health of microservices, shape traffic between them, and update their configurations.

Built a Ruby on Rails application to search millions of archived emails. Worked on Ruby code that used ElasticSearch to find emails from the millions that customers stored in our system. Used AWS S3 for archiving and pulling complete messages and RabbitMQ as a message broker.Built a JavaScript single page application to improve usability with input from customers and the sales team. Introduced unit testing into our front end code.

Wrote Ruby on Rails code for managing public access video servers. Built UIs that controlled set up iptables firewalls, drag and drop program scheduling, and large file uploads.Built a web app to reinstall every common configuration of our software over PXE boot. This was used to manage our fleet of servers used for QA.

First employee (after the cofounders) at an AI/ML/NLP startup. My work was primarily in building the frontend in Python/Django/JavaScript to these AI tools which were used in semi-automated content curation. Ran a small site aggregating JavaScript content using this software.

Worked with a really great team on their video and live text chat service. Left for an opportunity to become employee #1 in a startup in the Natural Language Processing space.
