Joey Chia-Jen Wu is a wine professional graduating from Northwest Wine Academy in South Seattle College, where she pursues her passion for food and wine. Joey obtains abundant knowledge of global wine styles in several classes like “Wines of the World”, “Wine History and Appreciation”, “Sensory Evaluation”. Focusing on food and wine pairing, Joey completed six courses in food and wine pairing and is able to pair food with various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, from Apple Cider to Barolo. The more that Joey learns about wines, the more she is passionate about working in the hospitality industry. Joey loves the synchronization that food and wine create together. She enjoys pairing Asian food with wine in class, which was highly recognized by the instructor. After graduation Joey worked at Safeway West Seattle store as wine steward, responsible for wine sales. She not only had to maintained the tidiness of the wine area and display, but also provided wine suggestions for customers on their budget and occasions. Every week Joey had to place orders to the warehouse based on the forecast of wine sales and did inventory management. During this period of time, Joey found that she enjoyed interacting and helping people. If she could find a bottle of wine that the customers love, that would bring Joey great satisfaction and content. Returning to Taiwan in 2015, Joey immediately started her career in food and beverage industry. She has been working as sommelier and assistant manager at Achoi restaurant, sommelier at Orchid restaurant, manager at enowine bistro. During these time Joey has been familiar with creating wine lists, food and wine pairing, restaurant service and management, building customer relationship inventory management , wine tasting event coordination and staff wine training. Joey left food and beverage industry due to pandemic in 2021 and worked at Evergreen Laurel Wine Collection as product marketing specialist, where she was responsible for working with wineries abroad, annual brand promotion campaign planning, product pricing and positioning, inventory management, product materials providing, and staff wine training. Joey likes to share her passion and knowledge with people by helping them choose the appropriate wine to enhance their meal and the appropriate occasion, therefore more people can appreciate the art of wine and the joy that a good paring can bring.Joey has a bachelor degree in advertising in Taiwan and a master degree in communication management at Northwestern University, Evanston.
