Worked with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry to quantify the overall health of Toronto’s urban ravine system using the concept of ecological integrity to rank plot health. Tracked metrics were understory vegetation, trees, small mammals, and birds. Additionally mapped out all potential seed trees along the Don River as a supplementary project. Applied skills include vegetation sampling, plant identification, coarse woody debris analysis, mammal tracking, seed forecasting, public outreach, data entry, Excel database management, statistical analyses, report writing, and presentations to both specialists and laypeople.

Assisted in the creation of the Ontario Professional Foresters Association's Bridge Training Program for Foresters. The role I played in this involved recording and editing various Master's level lectures and editing them into continuous segments for the purpose of training international foresters aiming to work in Ontario. Skills applied include the use of Adobe Muse video editing software, recording audio lectures using TechSmith Relay software, and maintaining communications with various speakers and specialists to ensure their continued consent in having their content available online.

Worked in Dr. Sandy Smith’s lab at U of T Forestry, focusing on topics such as ecological resilience, native species maintenance, and novel species control. Eventually developed into an undergraduate NSERC thesis looking at patterns of extirpation, maintenance, and introduction of tree species in North American urban forests. Skills developed include familiarity with tree species, large database management, scientific report writing, graph and figure creation, and presentation skills to both specialists and laypeople.
