I am dedicated to creating and supporting a positive workplace culture where employees want to stay. I build relationships and trust where they are often missing - between employees and an organization's HR & leadership teams - by maintaining an employee-centered and holistic focus on people operations. I've had the opportunity to serve hundreds of employees in this way.Like City Sanitation Laborers, who continued to protect public health throughout the pandemic by showing up every day to pick up our trash while many of us worked from the safety of our homes. I led the implementation of a City Heroes Award to acknowledge their contributions and those of all of our vital municipal frontline and onsite workers.Like supervisors, who see their staff facing burnout right alongside them. When you care so deeply about the work you do, you sacrifice your own self-care and it is hard to step away. While I was with the City of Asheville, I partnered with the HR director to embed leadership coaching into a standing meeting attended by 60+ supervisors each week. We worked to shine a light on the unwritten rule of overwork, reset expectations, share the importance of boundaries and time off, and provide tools and language to improve productivity and longevity. More recently, I had the honor of building and implementing a performance management program for Buncombe County. From goal-setting to quarterly conversational reviews, the program is strategically designed to ensure that supervisors have the tools they need to support employees in their success.And like employees at all levels, who strive to do their best and to do it inclusively. At the City of Asheville I became an Equity Trainer and co-facilitated conversations on race to help open a dialog and develop the tools we all need to acknowledge our own biases. At Buncombe County, I helped develop (and continue to facilitate) an award-winning racial equity training that has been attended by hundreds of employees.I believe that HR professionals have a duty to do their very best for employees every day. I'm here for it.
