As a highly regarded and experienced entrepreneur, Joey has founded multiple ventures in the fields of art, live entertainment, marketing, cannabis, and hospitality. His passions include music, travel, health and wellness, friends, and family.Joey's secondary education culminated at UCLA, where he graduated cum laude from the Honors College with a degreee in Neuroscience. His fascination with neuroscience primarily revolved around it's manifestation in human behavior and social interaction, and the study of natural and holistic medicines to enhance health and wellness. After college he moved to South Beach, Miami, and worked in the fields of hospitality, events, and experiential marketing and was part of the team that relaunched the iconic Fontainebleau Resort in 2008. He then moved to Las Vegas and was one of the most active and recognized figures in the Downtown Las Vegas revitalization efforts from 2010-2019. His positions included Founder and Executive Director of the First Friday Foundation, Co-founder and Partner of the Life is Beautiful Festival, President of the Las Vegas Arts District, and founder of the 6th&FRANKLIN community arts project. In 2014 Vanas spearheaded the Nevada Wellness Project, which was one of the first 12 companies awarded a license for the production and commercialization of medical cannabis in Las Vegas, and was an active figure in launching the legal cannabis market in Nevada. After a sucessful exit in the cannabis space he created HempWay, focused solely on promoting the develpment of the industrial hemp industry. Joey currently splits his time between Puerto Rico, Colombia, and Panama where he is developing properties and a products business under the brand Sumer Farms, with a focus on eco-conscious hospitality and natural wellness.
