Highly skilled and experienced in the field of environmental regulation, I have worked for many years at a national level with other water companies and the Environment Agency (EA), Defra and Ofwat.I wish to further my career in the environmental field investigating, identifying and implementing measures to address regulatory challenges such as water quality and flooding. I believe all sectors of industry should demonstrate a duty of care approach to the environment. My aim is to explore the potential, where possible, to use outcome based natural capital approaches to resolve significant water management and environmental issues alongside ecological and net gain principles, to align with the Government’s 25-year Environment Plan. In many situations the adoption of catchment management and natural capital approaches, as an alternative to traditional engineering solutions, can provide a wider range of environmental benefits with a lower water and carbon footprint and cost.My current role is to ensure the company complies with relevant legislation and to work with regulators such as the EA and Ofwat to improve the quality of our lakes, rivers and coastal waters and achieve a balance between these goals and appropriate customer bills.I have worked in most fields in the water industry. An expert in the Water Framework Directive (WFD), Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD) and Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR), I also have an in-depth knowledge of similar legislation under the Waste, Habitats, Bathing Water and Shellfish Directives.
