This is an NHS funded doctoral level professional training course for clinical psychologists in the UK.I currently work part time (from Denmark and returning regularly to the UK) leading programme development and delivery around interpersonal communication and clinical skills. In addition, I am employed to co-run the 'Lancaster University Psychological Training Academy', facilitating psychological training for health, education and voluntary sector staff, including courses on Core Psychological Skills, Coaching and Supervision. My previous tasks in this employment have involved overseeing the clinical development of clinical psychology trainees, delivering teaching and clinical skills training, contributing to the management of clinical practice placements and involvement in assessing academic work.

I have experience offering psychological training and consultation to a broad range of audiences, such as a children's research agency, the BBC, parents-to-be, charity groups, health staff and individuals.

As part of my role in facilitating a large number of workshops and working to develop others as a tutor, I undertook training as an accredited Coach, and received supervision on this work. In addition to the huge influence it has had in my workshops, I have used coaching in individual work with clients, trainees and colleagues as well as delivering training in Coaching skills to clinical psychologists, counsellors and other therapeutic staff.

Stockport Team For Adult Rehabilitation, Stockport Nhs Trust, Uk

I worked within a multidisciplinary community neurological rehabilitation team, with adult clients with a range of conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke, MS and other degenerative conditions, brain tumours and ‘functional’ (or ‘medically unexplained’) neurological symptoms. As the clinical psychologist in a team of health staff, my work involved direct clinical work around depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, adjustment and loss, as well as liaising with mental health services around long term mental health issues. My therapeutic work is informed by cognitive behavioural approaches (including ACT, compassion-focussed work and mindfulness), systemic understandings and coaching/solution focussed approaches. I also conducted cognitive assessment work to clarify the impact of neurological issues on cognition and liaise about this with both clients and other services. I worked to develop other team members’ understanding of the psychological aspects of neurological conditions through co-working, consultation and regular training sessions.

I delivered individualised assessments and intervention work with children and their families from 4-19 years, presenting with a range of complex psychological difficulties. Therapeutic work included cognitive behavioural and systemic approaches, running Webster Stratton parenting groups and working as part of the family therapy team. The role involved working with and consulting to staff from other disciplines and organisations, including schools, social services and 3rd sector agencies. It involved individual therapeutic work, group work with parents, working within the family therapy team, supervising trainee clinical psychologists and qualified staff, and delivering training to other professionals. In addition, I took a lead role for audit within the team, and inputted to service development projects.
