Primary responsibilities are advising and assisting African Union troops through familiarization, training, and ongoing operations in support of the AMISOM Mission. Help to plan, rehearse, and execute explosive detection dog operations and assist in training AMISOM and Somali Government personnel. Responsible for continuously improving the integration of canine operations with other functional support that Bancroft renders to the AMISOM Mission and integrating the canine operations into other mission critical activities. As Project Manager function as a resource for advice and assistance executing peace enforcement operations. Also fill the position as supervisor, teacher, mentor and advisor whose primary focus is on transferring the requisite knowledge and skills to AMISOM. As a Mentor the task is to build direct relationships with protégés, identify strengths and weaknesses and enhance operational capability. Ensure each Mentor in the canine program offers protégés reliable counsel on tactics, techniques, and procedures for canine operations, drawing on lessons-learned from similar operations in other theaters worldwide.The Explosive Detection Dog Unit is critical to AMISOM force protection and peacesupport operations capability. As a Mentor I instruct AMISOM troops, help thosetroops mentor the Somali security forces (civilian or military), and assist both AMISOMand Somali forces to conduct operations. As Project Manager I am also responsible for overall care and management of Bancroft’s canines and support personnel, including kennel staff and the staff veterinarian when he is on site.
