As a design engineer at H&M I work in a collaborative team of designers, architects andengineers with the common goal to create amazing retail store interiors for the H&M groupstores around the world. The job tasks includes product development of everything fromsimple store furniture like tables, podiums and floor stands, to more complex products likecash desks, flexible wall shelving systems and lighting products and everything there inbetween. The design engineer is key part of the whole product development process and isresponsible for bringing the products from idea to finished product in the stores by producing3D CAD models, drawings, renderings, building physical prototypes and enabling volumeproduction in close collaboration with our external producers around the world.I put a lot of effort in designing products using circular design principles and I would saythat I am a person that loves to make myself and my colleagues around me learn and growby sharing knowledge and experiences within the teams that I am a part of. I’m a “doer” bynature and love to be in the driver’s seat of detailed design work, but I also feel comfortablein smaller project management roles where I can take lead in driving the development ofproducts and concepts forward.

I performed my master thesis work at Setred AB where the task of the project was to develop a demo-version of an autostereoscopic 3D workstation used for surgery and surgery planning. The project started off with design research in the form of interviews, customer journeys and focus groups. Concepts were created as sketches and simple 3D models. The most promising concept was then chosen to be developed into a detailed CAD model ready for manufacture and simulations were performed on the CAD model to facilitate material choice. It was a great learning experience to be able to work with a product from idea to finished design.
