My background, education and career interests spread over the past 42 years, intertwined with engineering and commissioning both in electrical and mechanical area's. My interest in the electrical engineering and control of large power generation installations cultivated a deep interest into energy and thermodynamics, involving utility-sized Rankine cycles used in power generation. For years I did R&D as a hobby in my spare time, chasing a dream of developing a lower cost power generator, also venturing into the renewables sector. In 2007 I left ABB and started a small R&D company to full-time chase my dream of producing lower-cost electricity. In this very small team we developed the novel Regenerative Heat of Solution (REHOS) thermodynamic cycle and in 2018 I teamed up with a few partners in the Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) to form Cirrus Rehos Renewable Power and Water (Pty) Ltd. In my new role as CEO of this new company, I can really live my dream, as may be seen from the definition of our vision, mission and technology listed below. Now all our efforts go to produce cheaper power and water, and to commercialize and make it available to the global community for fighting global warming!Our Vision is to live in a world where everyone has access to clean and affordable drinking water and power. A world where drought and energy poverty are merely opportunities for our technology to unlock nature's free power and water to humanity. To realize this, our mission is to develop, mass produce and facilitate the global use of our proprietary Rehos Renewable Power and Water Generators. We aim to provide our REHOS technology for the eradication of energy poverty everywhere on the globe and quench the thirst of every living creature on planet earth.Our Game-changing technology involve the REHOS thermodynamic cycle, where "REHOS" is an acronym for Regenerative Heat of Solution. The cycle is formed by combining an Absorption Heat Transformer (AHT) regeneratively with an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for the generation of power.The AHT is basically a thermally powered heat pump, consisting of an evaporator and a Vapor Absorption Binary Reactor (VABR). Vapor generate a high temperature output in an absorption process and produce a concentrated liquid in a subsequent distillation process. It also serve as a regenerative rejection heat recovery device for the ORC turbine exhaust vapor. The AHT and ORC are coupled regeneratively via the VABR to form the REHOS cycle, rendering heat to power conversion efficiencies of 70%+ due to large regenerative media flows
