Project Engineer In Training
Production Delivery Center Bitumen And Gas Treatment Engineer
I worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team that was responsible for the day to day operation of a SAGD facility. The team consisted of representatives from each of the major areas of the plant, I was the bitumen and gas treatment representative. Continuous monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), trouble shooting and schedule management were used to optimize production and minimize downtime. Below are key accomplishments from this role:• Identified a Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) limitation on a pressure vessel. Initiated a risk assessment that was signed off by management and implemented mitigation safeguards until PSV could be upsized during turnaround. This ensured the safe operation of the pressure vessel.• Coordinated a field trial to reduce chemical usage. Chemical usage was reduced as much as 50 percent on select well pads leading to reduction of operational costs and reduction of work load on field staff.• Owner of the Bitumen Treatment and Gas Treatment opportunities list, systematically working through the opportunities to maximize return on investment. These opportunities were reviewed with all disciplines involved e.g. Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering.
Regulatory Affairs Engineer In Training
Provided day to day regulatory support to operations staff along with monitoring new and changing regulations. I tracked and managed all the Alberta Energy Regulator’s (AER) inspection reports for all of the company’s assets. • Through active management, 100 percent of AER Inspections were responded to and rectified by the AER stipulated deadline.• Developed and implemented Proactive Compliance Reports to reduce the time commitment required for completion of the reports. On average the Proactive Compliance Reports resulted in a 65 percent reduction in time required by field staff to complete.• Developed an internal spill reporting tool to simplify and highlight spill reporting regulation requirements to field staff, in order to ensure compliance.• Compiled and presented all the compliance statistics for both Alberta and British Columbia during the reporting periods (monthly and yearly) for senior management to be aware of the progress of the company compliance goal.
Well Operations Intern
I was the student within the Production Engineering team. Provided support to the production engineers through data gathering and data interpretation for troubleshooting and production optimization. Managed projects to increase production and optimize operability, below are various results from these efforts:• Quantified the loss of production associated with each NFE for each well, which identified the “size of the price” for the NFE project.• Through the data gathering and interpretation, the identification, response and recovery from a NFE was optimized resulting in significant production savings. This optimization led to roughly $80,000 of saved production per well per month.• Conducted surveillance of key performance indicators to evaluate the effects of gas handler components installed within downhole Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs). Recommendations were provided based on this surveillance to improve ESP designs.
Inspector
Onsite representative that ensured road and utilities construction met Calgary municipal specifications. I was also the single point of contact between the contractor, client and home owners that were affected by the road construction. • Main water line was damaged due to construction, provided the communication for client and WC2B management to ensure everyone was aware of situation and appropriate mitigations were being made.• Ensured home residents’ issues or concerns were adequately addressed and communication and feedback was top priority. This lead to less complaints during construction period.• Coordinated the field activities between personnel to optimize field site performance.• Prepared daily written reports to communicate construction progress to client and upper management of WC2B Engineering Inc.
