SCAW Metals is a South African metal manufacturer in the steel industry and due to the high concentration of emissions produced by their processes, a system was required that will drastically reduce the concentration of their emissions and the damage their processes cause to the environment. Howden is the principle contractor for this turn-key project, responsible for the entire project from start to finish, including design, civil works, electrical installations, mechanical engineering and commissioningDUTIES INCLUDE:Auditing HSE management systems of sub-contractors against legal and client specification requirements,Send out finding reports on a monthly basis, ensuring close-outs on deviations, from sub-contractor safety officers,Issue monthly project safety report to client including changes in activities, sub-contractors on site and project safety stats,Compile baseline, continuous and issue based risk assessments,Sample SWP's, SOP's and Method statements relating to work activities,Prepare rigging studies together with the rigging study team, also preparing the risk assessment for the lift and method statement for the lift,VFL walk-abouts, Daily inspections and document assessments, Chair monthly health and safety site meetings,Communicate with Department of Labour ensuring continuous compliance with local municipal, provincial and OHS Act requirements,Monitor training needs according to scope of work and facilitate training and development accordingly,Draw up the project fatal risk register, emergency procedures and rescue plans,Emergency coordinator,Co-ordinate interfacing and access control among sub-contractors and project activities in production areas,Control an open line of communication with Client ensuring sound relations,Participate in project management meetings, ensuring proactive planning according to the project timeline
