My name is Johan Langerman and I am an Informatics graduate. I grew up in the town of Boksburg, East Rand before moving to Pretoria for my high school years. There I mainly focused on sport and people. My electives were extremely diverse since I chose Drama, Information Technology and Accounting. This thought my three different aspects in life, Drama thought me how to think with an abstract mind and see how the world has changed, Accounting thought me that you can't run a business without knowing how money works and flows, Finally, Information Technology taught me how to solve complex problems and that computers are the future. After my years in high school and took a gap year and went down to Cape Town, where I participated in a gap year program hosted by Pneumatics. During this program, we visited different industries every week to broaden our views on the different types of work in the world. We frequently did ministry work and travelled throughout South Africa while doing so. This led me back to Pretoria where I decided to do a Bcom: Informatics degree, since it connects all the dots (Steve Jobs). In informatics, you need to be able to think with an abstract mind if you are going to develop a system that has nothing in common with previous systems, you need to understand how the money flows so that you can stay within budget and not overspend, you need to know how to future proof your system by understanding that computers are our future and finally you need to develop a system that can help disadvantaged people and develop it so that it can work in many different industries in the world.
